Reservation Activity and Occupancy Outlook Reports Anticipate the Future
MTRiP's Reservation Activity Outlook and more detailed Daily Occupancy Reports are resort-wide reports that are based on a significant number of area lodging properties participating collectively in a Resort Hub, and using a set of metrics created to standardize data for future comparison and aggregation. Current and advanced reservation data are gathered and compared against historical data at the property/management company level, then aggregated into resort- and industry-wide reports. MTRIP's Results are provided in a comprehensive report set that includes an executive summary and set of charts that show current data compared to the previous year-to-date and the past season's total. Fill and Pacing reports and supporting data tables complete the monthly report set. MTRiP's six month forward-vision outlook is unique and allows for proactive management and marketing/sales intelligence not otherwise available.
Both Reservation Activity and Daily Occupancy Reports are based on advanced reservation booking patterns from subscribers and can generate a resort-wide indicator when a significant number of the area's lodging properties participate. These cooperative groups are most often sponsored by and include the resort's ski company and tourism association, working in cooperation with the area lodging properties to create Resort “Hubs”. Resort Hubs have now been established in a number of Western destinations and are providing consistent, statistically valid data on a resort-wide basis.
Reservation Activity Outlook Report – is a collection of available rooms, room nights on-the-books and revenue, which then provides calculated Occupancy Rate, Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR) for the past, current and forward-looking six months.
- Properties and Management Companies use the Report to track their individual business and compare it to the overall resort, with historical, current and 6 month outlook and pacing reports provided in graphic and tabular format.
- Optional Property-Competitive Reports: allow properties to pick a specific competitive set with which to compare their individual performance.
- Resorts Communities : when data is combined from all participating properties in a resort area, a Resort Hub can be established and used to compare an overall resort's performance to its previous year-to-date, last year season's end, and for the forward looking six months.
- Optional Resort-Competitive Reports : allow for competitive assessment against the industry, and (new for 2008) Resorts can order optional Resort Competitive-Set reports of 5 other resorts in aggregate; this is described in more detail in the Competitive Assessment section of MTRiP products.
Reservation Activity Reports are produced monthly and include Occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, Yield Summary, Pacing and 30 day Fill. A narrative summary introduces a graphical chart set that is supported by extensive tables and is published from a secure web portal at MTRiP.org.
Daily Occupancy Outlook Report - is a daily-level report of overall resort occupancy, showing the past, present, and future six months of business on-the-books at a daily level, and in comparison to previous year-to-date and end-of-season activity. The result helps resort operators, retail businesses, and municipal organizations anticipate upcoming business with enough detail to adjust their operating plans for staffing and inventory as needed. The Daily Occupancy Report:
- Includes current and future six month occupancy, graphically represented on a daily calendar.
- Depicts current and year-to-date business against last year-to-date and seasons-end business.
- Optionally, overlay holiday dates, special events and unique situations on the daily graph reports.
Both Occupancy and Reservation Activity Outlook Reports are most effective and meaningful when implemented as part of a collective resort-wide effort, and the establishment of a "Hub." An annual subscription includes 12 monthly reports and can then be enhanced from a menu of optional "a la carte" reports. Pricing for individual businesses is available, while destination- or corporate-wide cooperative programs offer lower pricing and more comprehensive information. Multi-year agreements assure consistent data and provide further savings.
