Tracking the intentions and preferences of mountain travel consumers and the experiences of recent guests
Understanding the marketplace is the first step to a successful marketing and sales effort, and knowing the customer is the second. To better understand the wants and needs of potential guests, and to know current guests better, MTRiP offers two separate but related survey opportunities as an add-on to an existing subscription or as an individual service.
Mountain Travel Consumer Survey - The actions and intentions of leisure travel consumers are the subjects of an industry-wide Consumer Survey proposed each fall, during the active booking season when consumer sentiment is most relevant. This cooperative effort is designed to create a profile of the targeted destination mountain travel guest (both winter and summer), and to ascertain their preferences and future intentions for mountain and leisure travel.
The survey is generated from a web-based poll of representative destination mountain guests, carefully selected to be both broad and representative. It is available on an a la carte basis and is delivered from MTRiP's web portal, or in hard copy format (optional). Through a cooperative effort, better data and significant savings are achieved over other survey options. Expressions of interest can be communicated to Ralf Garrison at rgarrison@mtrip.org through the end of August, when the survey closes.
The Recent Guest Survey - provides for the tracking of a resort and/or property's guests through a post-vacation survey that includes ranking their booking method, transportation, resort and property satisfaction and overall value. Standard survey questions are consistent across all participating resorts and will allow the future comparison of the guest's experience and satisfaction between resorts, properties, and booking channels.
The Recent Guest Survey is offered to destination resorts in conjunction with their central reservation services, as well as to individual lodging properties and management companies, and is available on a seasonal or year-round basis. Benefits include a guest-generated index that can be used by reservation agents to provide future callers with objective, value-based feedback about various properties or condominium units.
Together, the Consumer and Guest Surveys provide information and insights that allow for more successful retention of current guests and attraction of new guests.
After the initial startup fee, pricing is based on the number of surveys requested and is designed to be an affordable way to track guests' responses to their mountain travel experience. Note: The Recent Guest Survey is a new MTRiP product that is currently in development. Reservations are being accepted for a fall 2008 launch.
